Wednesday 1st October - walks *** – Felixstowe, Martlesham and Waldringfield – Cloudy with some light rain.

It was a pretty full-on day yesterday, I saw a cracking sunrise and sunset then there was a chance of seeing the Aurora so I headed down to Felixstowe Ferry at 11 although the starry sky was amazing there was no sign of colour so I went the dock view point to take a pic of the container ships inn the dark, so we didn’t get to bed until after one! I did wake up at 6.45 and Mag had already gone on her early walk, I checked out of the back bedroom window and the sunrise looked promising so I quickly dressed and drove to the beach near the pier just in time to see the sun rise above the horizon, I managed to get a few nice pics before returning home. Mag did an early big shop at Lidl while I was still sorting my photo’s out! After sorting out the shopping we had our breakfast in the garden despite it being cloudy. I started my exercises in the garden but it was a tad on the chilly side so I finished them indoors while Mag continues to get the garden ready for winter, there was even a little very light rain! I then packed a picnic and we left Felixstowe elate around two, driving over to the sunflower field at Martlesham near the BT tower, there is now three strips of pumpkins at the back of the now droopy sunflowers which have gone to seed and the birds are loving them! We walked over to see the pumpkins to take some pics and I was lucky enough to get one on BBC’s Look East tonight:) We then drove over to park overlooking the field near Waldringfield Church, as it was raining we decided to have our picnic in the van before walking down to the River Deben taking the umbrella with us, it was needed too! The wind was very light and the river looked good despite the gloom! We walked along the beach to the Maybush, up the lane and back to the van. We returned inn the van to Waldringfield plant cottage to get one before heading for home for a doze, cuppa and cake:)
